Private by default, and by design.
No account, no servers, no analytics. On its own the app sends nothing anywhere, ever. Your entries live encrypted on your phone until you choose to move them.

Search every entry, jump to any day, ask in plain words, or see a whole year of one question on a calendar. Export a day, a range, or everything as Markdown that any tool can read.

Choose to trust an AI provider such as OpenAI with your own API key, and Day Chats can read the days you pick and answer in plain language: what was on your mind in March, how a friendship has shifted, or a profile of yourself drawn from your own words.
Nothing is set up out of the box. Nothing is sent until you tap send, and then only the entries you chose, to that provider alone, under their terms. Photos never leave the phone, and neither does your key. Skip it, and the app stays fully offline.

at a glance.
Pick a question you would ask a friend who had read your diary. How was my mood? What kind of day was it? Did I get outside? Choose a few answers that matter to you, and Day Chats reads each day on its own and paints the answer onto a calendar: a month you can tap into, a year you can take in whole. Every cell can say why, in a sentence, quoting your own words.
It runs under the same rules as Ask. Your own key, your entries go only to the provider you chose, and only when you tap Analyze. After that, only days that are new or changed are ever sent again.

A file you can keep
Your words have
a way out.
When you want a copy, export it yourself. Your days and timestamps stay together in a readable Markdown file that any app can open, and that works as context you can hand to another tool. Back up everything, photos included, as a single zip and restore it on a new phone.
